After a long day Of work Of questions Of running from desk to desk I put my feet up and closed my eyes. Kiddo narrated video games Cats crawled up and down batting me PET ME NOW! Briefly, though, everyone went outside and for a while a short while I put my feet up and closed my eyes and fell asleep. ZZZZZzzzzzzzz…
Sheer delight to read! I may have to add nap to my trigger list (slices I must stop at) of cookies, cats, and books.

A nap can be bliss!

I totally love this poem! The short lines make it feel so immediate and the creative spacing is perfect for setting a playful tone. Also, I appreciate the interruptions that are so cleverly documented in the middle of this “nap.” My husband, cat and I are big nappers so we live this!

This post makes me jealous because I’m chronically underslept but can’t ever seem to nap! With all the interruptions, I’m not sure how you managed it either! I love the use of spacing and white space to create movement and suspense and to convey all those interruptions.

The fact that my restless child did not fall asleep until nearly 10, and then woke me up at 12:30 to insist that he could not sleep and had been awake since bedtime, keeping me up until 1:30 until I got him settled enough that he would stay asleep, on top of my own insomnia from the night before, made napping pretty easy. I kept drifting off in between fascinating video game explanations.

Both are good – a nap and a poem. 🙂

Love this poem, especially how you spaced out ‘from desk to desk’ to show how you moved around the room. Nice!

Thank you. That is what I was trying to accomplish with my spacing!
